In November 2013, the Tuscaloosa Probate Court (“the probate court”) entered a *1145judgment approving the adoption of A.S. (“the child”) by the child’s maternal grandmother, D.T. (“the adoptive parent”). In July 2015, W.G. (“the paternal grandmother”) filed a petition seeking an award of grandparent visitation with the child pursuant to Ala.Code 1975, § 26-10A-30.
