This is an action on a promissory note for @3,747.64, dated October 1, 18i)(>, signed, “The National Loan and Investment Company, by S. P. Howard, Vice Pres., A. B. Hush, Bee. and Treas.,” payable to the order of Henry S. Jenkins, and indorsed by him to the defendant in error, the Rockland Company, a corporation, which brought the action and alleged these facts. The National Loan & Investment Company, the plaintiff in error, is a corporation; and it answered the complaint of the Rock-land Company that it never made the note, and that it was without consideration and…
