United Illuminating Co. v. City of New Haven
Supreme Court of Connecticut
1Opinion of the CourtSpeziale, J.
The issue presented on this appeal is whether § 12-62a (e) of the General Statutes (hereinafter referred to as the “act” or Public Acts 1978, No. 78-256), a tax phase-in statute for real property, and the ordinance of the city of New Haven effective October 18,1978, as amended effective January 2, 1979, implementing the act, are unconstitutional in that they violate the equal protection clauses of the fourteenth amendment to the United States constitution, 1 and the constitution of Connecticut, article first, §§ 1 and 20. 2 We hold that both the statute and ordinance are constitutional.
