This is an action for benefits brought under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (“ERISA”). Plaintiff Sandra Palmer was an employee of defendant University Medical. Group (“UMG”). During 1994 and 1995 she complained of, and was treated for, back pain. On or about October 25, 1995, Palmer resigned her position and filed a claim for long-term disability benefits.
