Ross Allen Doherty, a Native American and a resident of the Hannahville Indian Community tribal reservation, was convicted in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan of two counts of knowingly engaging in a sexual act with a child, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2243(a), as made applicable to tribal reservations by the Major Crimes Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1153(a).
