Jeffrey Bearce was injured while he was a passenger in a motor vehicle involved in a single vehicle accident. The driver was solely responsible. Bearce sought payment from the plaintiff Allstate Insurance Company (Allstate) under identical underinsured motorist provisions in three insurance policies issued by that company either to him or to persons to whose household he belonged.
