On 22 September, 1921, tbe plaintiff and tbe defendant entered into a contract of insurance by tbe terms of wbicb tbe defendant insured for tbe term of one year, to tbe extent of tbe actual casb value, not exceeding $2,000, a Peerless automobile owned by tbe plaintiff, a corporation transacting business in tbe city of Charlotte. Tbe policy provides for indemnity against all direct loss and damage by fire arising from any cause whatever, except as therein set out.
