The defendant is a railroad corporation, operating a railroad through Massachusetts and Connecticut, as a continuous line, by virtue of the St. of 1873, o. 289, and exists .as a corporation by the laws of each of these States. This action is brought by the plaintiff, as administrator of the estate of Mrs. *302Ruth L.
