These appeals are from judgments of conviction entered after a jury trial in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Herbert N. Maletz, Judge. 1 The appellants were convicted of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1) (1982), and conspiracy to possess heroin with intent to distribute, in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 846 (1982).
