REID, Associate Judge:
The government appeals from an order of the trial court denying its request to introduce certain evidence during the forthcoming trial of appellee Ebony Williams. We reverse in part and affirm in part.
PROCEDURAL SUMMARY
Ms. Williams was indicted for the March 1995, stabbing death of Rufus Lawson, a friend of her grandmother.1 Ms. Williams *1246regarded Mr. Lawson as her “grandfather” and had lived in his apartment for approximately three years at the time of his death.
