HARTZ, Circuit Judge.
The United States District Court for the District of Colorado granted Defendant Naif Al-Yousifs application for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254. Although the application was untimely filed, the district court granted equitable tolling and proceeded to the merits. It ruled that the state-court decision was both contrary to and an unreasonable application of Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436, 86 S.Ct. 1602, 16 L.Ed.2d 694 (1966), and Moran v.
