PRYOR, Senior Judge:
This appeal originated in an action for breach of contract brought by appellee, C. Dudley Brown and Associates (“Brown”), against appellants, John M. Karr and Mona Lyons (“the Karrs”). The primary challenges in this court arise from adverse rulings by the trial judge regarding the Karrs’ counterclaims for negligence and violation of the District of Columbia Home Improvement Regulations, 16 DCMR § 800.1 et seq.
