Four plaintiffs—“on behalf of themselves and all others similarly situated”—brought this action in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, each seeking to recover the $100 statutory penalty imposed for the wrongful refusal of admission to the Rose Bowl Game at Pasadena on January 1, 1947—a “place of public amusement or entertainment.” (Civ.
