OLIVER, Judge:

In this general court-martial tried in late 1993 and early 1994, officer and enlisted members convicted appellant, contrary to his pleas, of various offenses under the Uniform Code of Military Justice [UCMJ]. These offenses were: attempting to unlawfully transfer firearms in interstate commerce; conspiracy to unlawfully engage in the business of dealing in firearms without a license; desertion; failure to obey a lawful general *769regulation; two specifications of unlawfully-engaging in the business of dealing firearms without a license; unlawfiilly transferring 24 handguns; and…
