Appellant Demetrios Sofías appeals after judgment on the pleadings in favor of respondent Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association. Underlying this lawsuit is a construction dispute. The appeal requires us to consider whether the California Mechanics’ Lien Law prohibits Sofías, a general contractor, from asserting rights accruing out of a construction loan agreement between the property owner and the lender.
