McKenzie Engineering Company is a marine construction firm based in Fort Madison, Iowa, that repairs bridges, docks, and dams on the Mississippi River. A union contractor, McKenzie is party to “pre-hire” collective bargaining agreements with most of the craft unions whose members perform marine construction work on the Mississippi. The Carpenters Fringe Benefit Funds of Illinois (the “Funds”) administers pension and welfare benefit trust funds for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners (the “Carpenters”).
