This is an appeal by the defendant from a judgment of $13,875 rendered against him on a verdict in favor of the plaintiffs in the district court of Meade county for damages oc*674casionecl by the fraud of the defendant in the alteration of two mortgages given by the plaintiffs- on Kiowa county lands, whereby they lost their Kiowa county lands and the crop of wheat thereon for-the year of 1925 when they were evicted therefrom.
