Lillie May Crawford died on 9 May 1978. The cause of death was “pjncised wounds of the neck and chest.” 1 The manner of death was homicide. Jeannie Yvonne Crawford, also known as Jeannie Yvonne Purnell, 2 was charged with the homicide. She was tried before a jury in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, convicted of murder in the first degree and sentenced to life imprisonment. She appealed to the Court of Special Appeals, and we ordered the issuance of a writ of certiorari on our own motion before decision by that court.
