Plaintiff brought this action against the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company to recover $50,000 damages for slanderous words charged to have- been spoken of him by the company’s agents with its authority.

After the suit had been pending more than six months plaintiff abandoned his declaration and filed a substitute declaration in one count. The matters of inducement alleged were these: Plaintiff was licensed to do, and was doing, the business of investigating and adjusting insurance claims in Nashville under the name of the Insurance Adjustment Bureau.
