In this appeal the parties are contesting the notice required by General Statutes §§ 49-34 1 and 49-35 2 to be served upon the property owner in order to validate a mechanic’s lien.

The plaintiff, H & S Torrington Associates (hereinafter H & S), is a general partnership engaged in the construction of shopping centers. Desiring to build the Torrington North Shopping Center upon land it owned in Torrington, H & S entered into a contract with Healy Construction Company, Inc.
