BUTTRAM, District Judge.

On March 16, 1999, this court entered a show cause order requesting the parties to this litigation to demonstrate why the instant action should not be remanded to the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Alabama, from whence it came. On March 30, 1999, a brief was filed by the defendants, Philip Morris, Inc., R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation and Lorrilard Tobacco Company, in response to the show cause order of this court with regard to the issue of jurisdiction.
