These cases involve allegations of market manipulation in a commodities deriva*469tives market, specifically, the market in silver futures calendar spreads. Plaintiffs, sophisticated individual commodities traders, allege that defendants (collectively, “JP Morgan”) manipulated the settlement prices in this market to benefit their positions, primarily by placing large, uneconomic orders at the close of trading.
