Since the Treaty of Hopewell was signed on January 3, 1786, by The Choctaw Nation (“Choctaw Nation”) and on January 10, 1786, by The Chickasaw Nation (“Chickasaw Nation”), wherein the United States of America acknowledged that the Choctaw Nation and the Chickasaw Nation were “to be under-[its] protection,” 7 Stat. 21, Article 2; e.g,, 7 Stat. 24, Article 2, “the United States has held in trust for thefse] Nations vast resources including, inter alia, land, minerals, and monetary funds.”.
