RYAN, Circuit Judge.

This is an appeal from two orders entered in a class action brought by female inmates of the Michigan prison system, claiming the denial of equal protection of the law in the provision of educational op*278portunities to female inmates in the Michigan prison system. The orders were separately appealed and are consolidated for review.
