The defendant, Rafael Abreu, appeals from the judgment of conviction, rendered after a jury trial, of manslaughter in the first degree with a firearm in violation of General Statutes § 53a-55a (a). On appeal, the defendant claims that the trial court (1) violated his right to present a defense by excluding evidence of (a) the victim’s alleged drug activity and (b) the defendant’s knowledge of the prior arrests of the victim, the victim’s alleged status as a fugitive, the victim’s use of an alias and the victim’s blood alcohol content on the night of the shooting and (2)…
