The plaintiff, machinery exchange, a corporation, commenced this action in the superior court for Grays Harbor county seeking recovery from the defendants railway company and timber company for loss claimed as the result of the wrecking and damaging of a large locomotive crane belonging to the machinery exchange, while it was being transported by the railway company over its line at a point about eight miles east of Aberdeen in that county. The claim of the machinery exchange is against the railway company as a common carrier, and against the timber company as a bailee of the crane for hire.…
