On May 28, 1938, the appellant, Josephine L. Miscione, received from the petitioner, Metro Plan, Inc., an automobile finance company, the sum of $377. In connection with the loan the appellant executed a chattel mortgage on a La Salle automobile for the sum of $504, to be paid in fourteen equal monthly installments. The difference between the amount received and the amount agreed to be repaid, amounting to $127, is referred to in the chattel mortgage as a “ compensation charge ” or “ extra compensation,” for which the lender assumed certain specified hazards in connection with the loan.
