This proceeding for the settlement of the accounts of the trustee was initiated upon the application of the Attorney General of the United States acting in his capacity as successor to the Alien Property Custodian (Trad*94ing with the Enemy Act, U. S. Code, tit. 50, Appendix § 6; Executive Order, No. 9788, 11 Federal Register 11981).
