The petitioner purchased 100 shares of the stock of Adams Express Company on June 25, 1941. According to his petition, Adams Express Company is an unincorporated joint stock association organized pursuant to written articles of association in the State of New York under the common-law right of contract.
The company was organized in 1854 and was engaged in the express forwarding business and later in the business of issuing *86and selling travelers’ checks until 1918 when it sold its physical property to American Railway Express Company and its money order business to American Express Company.…
