The defendants, numbering seven, were jointly accused by an indictment presented against them by the grand jury of Imperial County of various offenses alleged to have been committed in violation of provisions of the Criminal Syndicalism Act (Stats. 1919, p. 281). The indictment contains three separate counts, the first of which attempts to charge a violation of subdivision 4 of section 2 of the act.
