In this appeal of a conviction for marriage fraud, we consider whether the district court abused its discretion in instructing the jury on the elements of the crime under 8 U.S.C. § 1325(c), which prohibits entry into a marriage “for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws.” Fatih Sonmez was convicted by a jury for violating the marriage fraud statute and, on appeal, contends that the district court should have instructed the…
