The petitioner was convicted in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi of assaulting two federal officers with a deadly weapon in violation of former 18 U. S. C. § 254.1 The court sentenced the petitioner to the maximum punishment of 10 years’ imprisonment on each conviction of assault, *171the sentences to run consecutively.2 Upon completion of the first 10-year sentence, the petitioner made a motion in the District Court, under 28 U.
