In 1987, prior to the enactment of the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines Act (KSGA), Kohler Z. Jeffries pled no contest to felony murder and one count of aggravated robbery, pled guilty to three counts of aggravated robbery, and was convicted of felony murder and multiple counts of aggravated robbery, receiving a controlling prison term of life without possibility of parole for 30 years.
