Quinn, Chief Judge:
More interested in life in the South Pacific than in the Antarctic, the accused and a companion attempted to “jump ship” while it passed Pitcairn Island. The attempt failed when the accused’s finger caught in one of the lines attached to an inflated rubber raft that had been lowered from the fantail of the ship; the line had to be cut, and the raft drifted away.
