SULLIVAN, Chief Judge:
1. On April 18, May 13 and 22-25, 1991, appellant was tried by a general court-martial composed of a military judge1 alone. Contrary to his pleas, he was found guilty of desertion with intent to avoid hazardous duty and/or shirk important service and missing movement through design, in violation of Articles 85 and 87, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC §§ 885 and 887, respectively.
