VALLÉE, J.

Appeal by defendant from a judgment for

plaintiff entered on a jury verdict in an action for damages for personal injuries. Defendant pleaded that plaintiff was contributively negligent.

The accident occurred about 2:30 a. m. in the morning of March 10, 1956, at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and West Lavita Terrace in Los Angeles. Plaintiff was a pedestrian ; defendant was the driver of an automobile. Sunset runs generally east and west; West Lavita, generally north and south.
