Appeal from a judgment for the defendant in the Supreme Court of the District in an action to recover the reasonable value of services rendered the defendant in the purchase of coal from November 15, 1917, to March 31, 1919. In his particulars of demand plaintiff claimed $483,605 for the purchase of 3,210,-050 tons of coal, and credited the defendant with $9,854.57 received “as advances on account and for expenses.” The defendant pleaded the general issue and not indebted, and in its affidavit of defense averred, among other things:
