McINTYRE, J.

William Maurice Brown has petitioned this court for a writ of mandate directing the superior court to vacate its order requiring him to submit to periodic polygraph examinations at his own expense as a condition of probation. We issued an order to show cause and a temporary stay. We conclude Brown has not demonstrated that periodic polygraph testing is per se invalid in this case. However, we hold the trial court abused its discretion in (1) imposing a polygraph testing condition without restrictions regarding the questions that may be asked by the examiner, and (2)…
