Plaintiff Amy Kessling, a minor, brought suit against the defendant United States Cheerleaders Association claiming injuries to her right knee as a result of an acrobatic cheerleading maneuver attempted at defendant’s summer training camp at Northern Illinois University (De Kalb) on July 8, 1987. The matter proceeded through discovery and was set for an April 2, 1990, trial and status hearing on the prior Friday, March 30. On March 30, plaintiff’s counsel, A.
