The opinion of April 16, 1993, is withdrawn and the following is substituted therefor.

The defendants, Charles F. Jones, M.D., and Ophthalmology Associates of Mobile, P.A., appeal from a judgment entered on a jury verdict for the plaintiff, Ann McDonald, awarding $50,000 in her medical malpractice action. The issue is whether the "continuing treatment rule" operates to toll the running of the period provided by the medical malpractice statute of limitations, Ala. Code 1975, § 6-5-482, during continuing treatment for a condition as to which the defendant doctor has…
