The Pittsburg Council No. 117 Junior Order of United American Mechanics of Allegheny County was chartered September 3, 1889.. The object of the association, as stated in its charter, is “ to maintain and promote the interests of American mechanics by assisting them in obtaining employment and encouraging them in business; and establishing a sick and funeral fund from contributions made to said fund by members of this corporation.”
