After a trial to a jury, the defendant was convicted of the crimes of assault in the second degree, in violation of General Statutes § SSa-GO,1 and risk of injury to a minor, in violation of General Statutes § 53-21.2 The dispositive issues of this appeal are whether the trial court erred (1) by impermissibly enlarging the risk of injury offense in its charge to the jury, (2) in its charge to the jury on circumstantial evidence, (3) by imposing sentences on both the assault and risk of injury charges in violation of the double jeopardy prohibition of multiple punishments for the same offense,…
