This action is for the recovery of damages claimed to have been sustained by plaintiffs through the alleged negligence of the defendant while acting in the capacity of a warehouseman, in permitting 6,995 cases of 48 cans each of canned salmon belonging to the plaintiff, then being stored in defendant’s warehouse in Astoria, to become wet by reason of an alleged leak in the roof of the warehouse, causing the cans to rust and depreciating the market value thereof.
