A. INTRODUCTION

One redeeming feature of hearing a long trial is that the court emerges from the completion of proceedings totally immersed in the underlying facts from a number of vantage points and, consequently, may be quite clear about what a just result of the controversy should be. By bankruptcy court standards, this proceeding consumed a long period — eight mostly very full trial dates between September 26, 1988, and October 18, 1988.
