OPINION

LEDERBERG, Justice.

This case came before the Supreme Court on the appeal of the defendant, Joanne Rossi Casiano, from an adjudication in the Superior Court that she had violated the conditions of a previously suspended sentence. On appeal, the defendant challenged the adjudication of violation on the grounds that the trial justice erred both in admitting the hearsay statements of her son, Gian Carlo Casiano, and in refusing to allow her to call the child as a witness in her own defense.
