The defendants seek a review by certiorari of an award of the department of labor and industry. The plaintiff was 17 years of age at the time he was employed by Boice Brothers, a co- partnership engaged in operating a gravel pit near Pontiac, Michigan. On November 30, 1927, about a month after he had been employed, he suffered an accidental injury arising out of and in the course of his employment, which resulted in the amputation of his left arm above the elbow.
