This appeal arose from an incident occurring at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. The appellant was charged by felony information on February 1, 1990, with the following offenses: battery in the first degree, Ark. Code Ann. § 5-13-201 (Supp. 1989); burglary, Ark. Code Ann. § 5-39-201 (1987); possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), Ark. Code Ann. § 5-64-401 (1987); and carrying a weapon, Ark. Code Ann. § 5-73-120 (Supp. 1989).
