The State has appealed the order of the trial court granting appellee’s motion to correct court costs. We treat the case as a petition for writ of certiorari for the reasons discussed below, and grant the writ.

The appellee, James W. “Butch” Boyette, was charged with terroristic threatening and battery in the third degree, both Class A misdemeanors. The Sherwood District Court found him guilty and imposed a fine and costs. Boyette appealed to Pulaski County Circuit Court, and initially entered not-guilty pleas to both charges.
