SOTOMAYOR, Circuit Judge:
Defendant-appellant Laura Anne Gross-man appeals from a judgment entered on April 19, 1999 by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (Richard Owen, Judge) in favor of plaintiff-appellee Leslie Block Kaye on Kaye’s claims of fraud, promissory estop-pel, and unjust enrichment. Following a jury verdict in favor of Kaye, the court denied Grossman’s motion for judgment as a matter of law. For the reasons that follow, we reverse.
