OPINION
JONES, Chief Justice.
¶ 1 We granted sua sponte review of this disciplinary matter in order to determme whether the Disciplinary Commission’s recommended sanctions of prosecutmg attorney Thomas J. Zawada were adequate in light of the objectives of lawyer discipline. We hold they were not. .
I. Facts and Procedural History
¶ 2 At all times relevant, Zawada was a prosecutor in the Pima County Attorney’s Office. He prosecuted Alex Hughes m 1994 for various violent crimes, including first degree murder, all stemming from a shooting incident that resulted in the death of one person. Hughes’…
